As a designated Biomarker Discovery Laboratory of the NCI Early Detection Research Network, the scope of this project is the development of protein profiling of serum and tissues as a diagnostic and predictive tool for urological cancers.

Dr. Drake:
NIH/NCI Glycan Biomarkers of Prostate Cancer in Prostatic Fluids
The goals are to characterize the glycan constituents on prostate specific antigen, prostatic acid phosphatase and other secreted prostatic glycoproteins. Lectin ELISA assays will be developed to screen prostatic fluids and other sources of prostate proteins.
NIH/NCI Cancer Sample Preparation IMAT Program
Proximal Prostate Fluids as Sources of Protein and miRNA biomarker studies related to prostate cancer and benign disease.
The goals are to optimize collection and sample standardization methods for prostatic fluids obtained in the clinic, for use in proteomic and miRNA biomarker studies related to prostate cancer and benign disease.
